Ok, thanks, let me know how you get on. I wont be able to test new firmware until Wednesday. Out of interest, when did you buy your WKM?

Models,

I am sure that Geoff will look into it. I doubt that he is sitting there reading Forums today, after all it IS Sunday.....If you do not hear from him...go direct to DJI.....They DO want happy customers...I know that.....Doubt you have a Lemmon....it is probably something simple that has been overlooked......

Yes sure, I didn't mean today, I emailed him about it last week. Hopefully he's on the case with the other issues and will pick this up too.

Update....

just tried firmware 5.18. Exactly the same problem :(

Flies fine in all modes and then jolts about like a drunk in RTH

I am afraid I have no answer? do you have the iOSD? you can access flight logs if so... It will give you more info from what the sensors are reading and perhaps offer an answer..

For what it is worth my GoPro in its own case and its own power supply interferes with 1 My receiver starts to flash rather than steady and 2 I cannot obtain a steady green on the Gps take the camera off and all work as they should also the closer I bring the GoPro to the GPS unit the more satellites I lose

Have just sent the following to support@dji, hoping they can shed some light.

-----------------------------------------------------

Dear DJI

When enabling either fail safe or fly home mode, the craft goes nuts! It pitches and rolls violently back and forth while flying up and returning to home. Interestingly, alternatively if I'm in gps mode and I manually walk the craft away from it's locked position and release, it will return to it correctly and smoothly.

Here are some videos showing the issue, with different firmware versions
Firmware 5.16 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=CHJr-4U0txA#t=105s
Firmware 5.20 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nXzejtv5TUo

It's so strange, as every other feature seems to be fine apart from RTH and failsafe. IOC works perfectly, POI mode works perfectly, gps hold is great, even in heavy wind.

I have found another couple of users with the same problem:

and here..

PLEASE HELP!

Many thanks

DJI are saying I should try importing a config from a working unit. Can anyone here who has a stock f550 export their settings for me.

Would really appreciate it

Hi Ben . We can send you a file but the gps settings would be different and somehow I cant see this fixing your problem.
We are attending the BVE Expo next week but if you can send back your WKM and all packaging etc I will get Liz to send out a replacement WKM so at least you can try a new unit and see if this cures the problem.

If you need my personal mobile and dont already have it , pm or email me direct ..
I think it will be easier this way and we can then try your unit on a working set up at our workshop to find the source of the problem .

Yep I agree with you, I dont see how this is going to help, I think DJI just want to try it to rule some things out. But I have reset all params and even reset the eeprom by tieing the ports together, no difference.

That's great re the replacement unit, I will package up the WKM and send it back on monday. I'm away until thursday, but would really like to do some testing that following weekend, so if I could have a replacement by then I would really appreciate it.

Cheers

Ben

I am in the market for a unit so would love to hear the results as this forum naturally is biased toward people with a problem which makes it very difficult to access how reliable the Wookong controller is

For what it is worth I have had many dozens, if not hundreds of flights on my NAZA GPS and also on my WooKong GPS so far.
Only a minor glitch with the NAZA such that I covered one side of the Naza controller with black tape to resolve rapidly changing altitude which occured once or twice.
So the end result is that I remain very happy with DJI products so far. I am not yet able to comment on the GCS - Ground Control Station as I have not yet fully tested it. However I would say that the PC software/Google Earth overlay etc. work but the interface remains a bit crude as compared to competing products in that category.

Fredor, I only speak for myself as a WKM owner with several 100 flights. I found it to be extremely reliable. The only advise I can offer concerns upgrades to firmware. When a new one comes out it's best to wait several weeks to see if others have issues with the new firmware. There has been a few times that when they ugprade the code a bug gets intoduced, ( code is never a straight forward thing to work with as any programmer can tell you ).
Other than that, it has been extremely reliable. Just read the manual thoroughly and ensure you understand how to set it up correctly.
