well I got a good deal on the apm gps
Have you downloaded the firmware for the FC yet? Here's links to that: First there is mission planner. This is a GUI and you need that to install your firmware on the FC: http://planner.ardupilot.com/wiki/common-install-mission-planner/
This next link shows you how to upload the APM firmware onto the FC.
http://planner.ardupilot.com/wiki/common-loading-firmware-onto-pixhawk/
At the bottom of that page there is also a link to the APM forum.
After you get mission planner on your puter you connect the FC with a micro USB. Be gentle because the USB port will break off the board easily. Don't force it in. It will only go one way.
This link will help you out after you get things all up and working:

I know, I'm getting ahead. This is all stuff you can do when you're ready. You can go ahead and do it now too. It's gotta be done.
The page where I got all those links is here: http://planner.ardupilot.com/

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
@Hoki

look in the beginners' lounge, you'll see three group build threads, the first was the 2014 flamewheel build, the second was an FPV racer, this year we're doing a generic FPV quad. we're going to be using components like what you have, i actually have an APM 2.5 (I think, i may have given it to @Motopreserve, i can't remember at the moment but i'll check when i get home).

Can I have someone help me put together a drone? I got all the parts already. maybe we can Skype or something if you want to see my parts.
I'll give you as many tips and bits of advice as you find useful. I'll check out the parts you have, help you make an inventory of what else you need and hopefully get you in the air quickly. I've built 3 so far and have flown helis an quads for over 3 years now. Just pm me if you're interested.

Watch the painless 360 videos for the setup of cc3d. And radio setup is sometimes the most confusing thing to set up for a new person. Setting up channels, trimming.
