Man.. I am PUMPED!
After some R&D and a whole bunch of sweat and blood from Bartman, I scored my new Aerdro XY8 today.

I can not wait to get this puppy flying!
Bartman and I had a pretty killer weekend at the 2013 Toledo show. And I finally got my new baby..

Here it is getting eyeballed by almost 40,000 people at out RCG/FG booth.
The rig had people stopped in their tracks. I think somebody is gonna be a busy guy this year...

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
well Mr. SleepyC, I guess the cat is out of the bag! It's great to see you so happy with the new heli.

Here's the poop on things.

The company is being called Aerdro, LLC at www.aerdro.com. The site's going to get a lot of attention this week in order to be open for business sometime middle of next week. Right now it's a little embarrassing which is why I've kept it on the down-low.

THe heli is the pictures is the last of the conforming prototypes, it's not a perfect production heli but it's as close as any prototypes have come so far. A few little tweaks and it'll be good to go with production starting this week on a batch of camera mounts and in about two weeks on a batch of frames.

THe camera mount is made to fit a Canon 5D but even with that it barely breaks a sweat. It's a servo driven camera mount but I'll show in time with video that it does very nicely given all the poo-pooing we hear about servo driven mounts. Basically it's a professional photography mount that also happens to do very nice video. Throw it in and out of the car ten times a day and it'll laugh at the easy life it's living.

The dome Sleepy got was supposed to come home with me but I forgot to grab it. It was pulled to check the plug and I just threw it on there since the higher end ones won't be ready for a few weeks. There will be a lighter and less expensive option and then a more expensive but totally sick custom option. I can't wait to get pics of that posted to the website.

Sleepy added the foamie stuff to the gear which are standard Droidworx gear. I'm working on an Aerdro landing gear set but with the Droidworx gear available it's been the last things I've focused on. The frames will accommodate Droidworx gear with Photo Higher camera mounts for those that want to use their AV-130's or 200's or -360 mounts.

There will be multiple levels of XY quads available from a basic four motor starter to an FPV version, a fast FPV version, a portable model, and then the range of basic to full Pro grade XY8 models.

Check the website and it will all be explained there and here as well as things become available. There will be a vendor forum added here which will serve as the official customer access and support point for the company.

Thanks again for your support Sleepy. Enjoy the heli and I'm sorry again for getting us kicked out of the casino!

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
Digging how small the footprint is! ..............

Thanks. This might be the only 5D capable rig that fits, fully assembled, on the back seat of a compact car and flies as well as any other heli out there.

Now that I am getting a good view of this we will definitely be getting together on a setup for me. I like the sound of that FPV model. How easy is the Hoverfly FC to learn compared to the NAZA. I guess I have some reading to do.

THE HOVERFLY PRO is a walk in the park compared to the Naza. It's very straight forward. I love HF.

Seriously... read the HF manual. They do a few things different to DJI but once you get used to it, you will love just how damn simple they are to calibrate and test-fly. Work through the ground calibration process with the setup client after you have read the manual.
The main thing is using an AUX switched channel (end-points) for the gain. One way is manual flying gain, the other is auto-level.

It goes like this...
Take off, feel how it flies. Land, up the gain a bit, then fly it again until it starts to oscillate/feel twitchy. Land and back it of a few clicks. Done!
Altittude hold - climb up, hold your possition for a second (Throttle at approx 50%), hit the hold switch and it works. The throttle makes it climb and decend if you move the stick above/below 60%/40%. No calibration required. make sure the barometer sensor has some black felt or similar around / over it as it is affected by direct light.

I have two boards and they rock - even in 30mph winds!
