LED Lighting - What are you using?

HobbyKing 12v LED strips, $5 per meter. VERY bright! I was flying last night, and had a car come from almost a mile away to find out what it was. ..hahhaaa

They run off 12v taken from the flight pack's balance tap.. SUPER bright. They light up the quad so nice. I am going to order more in different colors. You can cut them to length and just solder the strips to each other. Nice stuff.

I'm using Turnigy LED strips that came from HobbyKing a year or so ago.

I bought four 1w mini star LEDs that I was planning on using under each motor of my disco. Upon testing, the little metal (heat sinks?) piece gets HOT! I think it would melt the arm.

Makes me wonder because I've seen dji quads arms hold this type of led in other posts. I don't know how they prevented it from getting so hot.

Can anyone suggest a really bright LED that I could fit to the rear to show in the daylight for orientation

1 watt LED's are really bright. Consider 1/2 or quarter watt? That little spot is super bright and should work for you.

A lot of time they forget to mention that you need to mount to a heat sync for proper operation.

Hey fredor - Jaycar Electronics sell LED drivers that will run 4 x 1watt LED off 4/5s flight batteries - damn bright too!!
I bought 1 watt LEDs off e-bay for $4 per pack of 10!!! I used Jaycar mini heatsinks to mount them on as they do get hot.
Happy to provide links to suppliers (and part numbers) if you like :)

Hey All,

I am running RJX hobby LED strips on 3S and 4S (I know, probably too much). Super SUPER bright. I pay $35 for a strip of 5M. Pictures to come. I like this brand because it is waterproofed and I can get it locally.
