Our raw footage directly off the KX8 has been solid so far, we haven't noticed prop-wash issues any more significantly than with our Cinestar 8 or Alta. I'll try to get both some raw footage from the gimbal and some 3rd person footage of the copter flying from a ground camera posted up soon for...
The steel screws on early GCU boards were an error when moving into full production, the prototype birds had non-ferrous hardware. It was noticed fairly quickly and adjusted for. There are commonly minor running changes when moving into full production with any product, at least Freefly...
You got to fly the Mini?? You lucky dog. We almost got the opportunity to fly it for a job last week, but alas it fell through o_O
What was your total payload and total aircraft flying weight, if I might ask?
We can get that going for you guys, we've just been slammed with work and projects since the KX8 kit showed up at our door! I'll try to get some flight videos from testing with it this week.
I can say that it's much quieter than I expected it to be. Most coax multirotor layouts are inherently...
Or KX-8 is up and rocking and doing great! Here's a photo from sunset flight testing at home in Washington.
The footage from our KX-8 has been great and I have it well tuned in with our WKM flight controller. It's feeling confident and predictable. We now have a couple hours of service under...
Airborne has a bunch of great Vimeo videos on their channel, check em out: https://vimeo.com/user31547353
The rain cover will definitely push our abilities in adverse conditions!
Yep, I'm not worried about the bullets at all, their locking system is super secure and the tool to remove them is easy to use, too, so when you have to rearrange them it's not a challenge.
The bullets are a special design and are secured into the POM housings with an integrated snap-ring system that gives them a very positive 'click' fit into the housings and requires a special tool (included) to easily remove/reposition individual bullets.
The barebones KX-8 kit is supposed to go for around $2800 usd I believe. Currently the website lists the barebones kit at $2687 eu, or $2957 usd. I know they're still firming up their pricing and various equipped kit options, it's possible the current listed prices may come down a bit. If you...
24 possible failure points? I'm assuming you're referring to the 24 male side bullet connectors that are mounted in the booms, but why do you view them as failure points? Anything could potentially be a failure point if designed and/or assembled wrong, in my opinion, but the bullet connector...
We can't yet speak to this, yet. Perhaps we will have to do some smoke test comparisons between some different copters to better test the rotor-wash over the gimbal. Or perhaps video is still ultimately the test and the only one that truly matters. After all, that's what we're ultimately...
