Pete's diy Big Hex Mk2 build blog

Wow I'd be a very happy man if my Y6 flies like that. Nice job Pete! I should be out in the shed right now, but my eyes are too tired. I need to feel good if I'm going to rewire 6 esc's, soldering needs to be right.

    Time to try a Y6

Hi Ken, could I ask what the weight of your frame is as it is in the last photo of your post? I'm in the middle of a Y6 build using the same motors as you so would be good to compare empty fame weights. cheers

Planning V Tail Quad Build Opinions Please.....

Yeah I was thinking something along those lines Mat. Probably a good idea to wrap motor in something to stop grindings entering the windings huh?

Planning V Tail Quad Build Opinions Please.....

YEAH but only if you use them for making dents in the ground Lol For normal flying around they'd be sweetaz:cool: As for the RC Timer motors I have, the shafts are twice the length they need to be. With the prop collect fully on there is a 10mm gap to the top of the motor. I feel they'd be...

Planning V Tail Quad Build Opinions Please.....

Hi Borneoben, I have both RC Timer BL-2830/14 750kv motors and Flycam 925's and you can clearly see why the Flycams are twice the price. IMHO worth every cent!

    Hex becomes Y

Thanks Mat, much appreciated praise indeed as I not a real Kiwi:D Its how I like to work though, all the drawings are in my head. Sort out the problems as they arise. Also I think it would be near impossible to find a commercial frame to fulfill my requirements? I have all the basic stuff...

    Hex becomes Y

Haha, no I got it from a guy who works next door to me! $15 NZ for 4.5 meters. 20x14x1mm section. Shame about the fixing web but I drilled most of it away. Landing gear from 19x19x1.2mm section! The whole frame cost me less than $10:cool:

    Hex becomes Y

Hi all, thought I would post my build here :p First my requirements are :- Must be able to fold and be suitable for backpacking into remote areas. Have a motor diameter 800-1000mm. Have six motors so if one motor or ESC fails I still have a chance of a safe landing? Be suitable for FPV and AP...

    Wanted Wanted-Carbon Sheet ?

Cheers DennyR, they have what I need. I also found a company called Dragon Plate and they have a budget plate without the normal high gloss finish. I have to say I prefer the matt surface but its not so budget! Composite Structures Technology have the cheaper price.
