OOOOOOOOOkay sorry peoples!! very embarrassing moment here, all it was in the end was the cable (which I don't normally disconnect from the MKUSB) was upside down!!!! I was looking at the wrong "#1" on the board, cannot believe it was that, thanks for all of your thoughts. All working ok now...

all working as you mentioned TX led flickering. I gave that a go and still no connection so assuming the cable is ok.... I also tried to power the FC with the jumper,( no lipo of course) and nothing ??? I should at least get some LED's on the FC flashing or light up with only the power...
