Modified DJI frame

So I got to thinking, have an F550 I was wondering what I would do when a motor craters. Besides having spares on hand. Was thinking could I take two arms off reposition the MC and turn it into a quad. The X would the stretched or squished. Would the Naza be able to handle that configuration? I've seen the quads with wide front arms. I want one but not one with wide front and back. Wonder if the Naza could swing it or if it would still be stable. Opinions??

yes,good idea,just what i did a while back with my Hexa.I just cut the 4 plates where arms go and drilled some holes for arm bolts.If i remember right it made a 520 size quad.

Very,very stable and flew great,longer flights than 550 Hexaand way better in the wind,same motors and lipos.

Yeah but you modified yours to have and X config. What if use used the natural angle of the hex. So your talking arms 60 degrees from each other on sides And 120 in front and rear. Straight bolt up.

aww.see what you mean,but why?
is it for FPV? props would be very much in view
cant see why Naza wouldnt work but pitch and roll gains prolly need to be totally differant to each other

Well like if you crashed broke and arm. Or motor failed and you didn't have one. And wanted to keep flying while waiting. I dunno if the props would be in view or not. The wide section would be front and rear.

Well it happens today wind + disorientated smacked the ground broke and arm. Didn't hurt the cheep DJI prop.
So I modded the F550 till I can get a replacement. Check it out. Quad status.
