I'd like to find one too, lol. but to also hold my gimbal and batteries ETC.
im guessing in the end a custom one is the only way.

I am not sure if you can escape bulky, but I do have two pelican cases for my gear and was considering one for my 550 also. Maybe something like this. Deep enough that if you had a gimbal underneath it has room for that, and other gear. http://pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1630. The 1690 may also work, the 1630 could be tight.

I am sure pelicans are worth the money but the prices are outrageous!!

Closest fitting for F550 and reasonable priced cases I have found are soft cases used for portable message tables. Range from 25" -32", 6" deep and some with extra pockets. Most under $100. Not so great for the airlines but may work great for local transport.

Still a work in progress but this is the Pelican 1690 with 'pick and pluck' foam. Picked it up for $525 here in Edmonton.
Its turned out to be a pretty good buy as I am able to fit the machine with Photoship one landing gear and Zenmuse in with out disassembly + all my FPV gear and chargers for everything (including Hyperion EOS0720i charger) Only the GPS post needs to be removed.

I have the F550 with the heavy lift conversion. It looks like with a tape measure I am coming in at 26 1/2 inches across. I cannot find a case that they shipped worthy to accommodate my set up. The Pelican website says the 1690 has an interior dimension of 30" x 25"

GSaftey what is exactly accurate?

The 1690 is 30.75 x 26 inches (hard edge to hard edge) at the lid closure. It tapers slightly the deeper you go.

Got mine slightly used on eBay for $325.

I have the motor extension plates to run up to 12" props these pates add about 2" in both sides. Making my overall diameter ~26.5" and can't fit into precut foam... unfortunately.

Yeah I have used those as well but changed to the Aluminium arms. I ended up building my own case for transport. However I do believe i-drone will start carrying those boxes to suit 550's with the arm extensions. might be worth emailing them and asking

Thanks AboveAll. I shot them a message. What are you thoughts on the aluminum arms? I'm assuming they are the ones from readymade. Can you still run a 11x5 prop?

Here's my Pelican 1690. I was thinking about arm extensions when I bought it.

I'll only have an inch of padding on the edges, so hopefully the frame will hold it off the walls from the middle.

I haven't cut the foam yet because I'm considering putting a Disco Pro underneath it.

Just ignore that mud on the props. I have no idea how that got there..........

I found a 1690 on Amazon for a good deal. Once it arrives I'll post up my results.

Love the aluminum arms. Little pricey but getting great results. I run mine with 11x5 props and are wanting to try 12x5 which will fit.
