Anyone ever used Scorpion motors on a Cinestar?

They are of top quality and even back it up with a 2-year warranty...but they are pricy. I only know them from RC-Singlerotor helis and have two of them. Lots of competition pilots are using them for their power and reliabilty.:

They even have kits to make the motor to your own specs:

But as you know, you would have to look for a motor with low kv. I actually should have a look into this motors for Multirotor use. Maybe you write them a short email with what you need, they normally have a very good customer support.

I'm looking at the Scorpion SII-3026-710 --- if the shaft was shorter it could do the trick. I could use them to lift an Epic with my Cinestar without a problem.

The long shaft is not a problem. With a Dremel tool and a cutting disk you fix 8 motors in 15 - 20 minutes. The higher quality props come mostly with adaptors to fit a 5 mm shaft...or take one of the mentioned prop shaft adaptes.

The KW8 motors have a good rep. It is likely that I'll go with those.
As for the Scorpions, the prop adapter fits on the 5mm shaft and has a 6mm threaded shaft.
The Scorpions can handle a bit more electricity.
The symmetrical spacing of the motor mount will be an issue too with the Scorpions - I'd have to get some fabricated. Could be some trouble.

Well i like to check on other stuff also. Well KW8 are good and proven trustworthy. But i am always curius.

Does it make sense to haul a Red Epic with a Cinestar8 with 8 KW8 motors? I'd be using the Cinestar 3 axis gimbal. On eCalc, I can make it work. Does it make sense in the real world?

Specs are a bit higher. Max is 50amps and 750 rpm / V. If I run them at 4s with my 14x5 Xoars, they look pretty good in eCalc.

you dont get worried when you see the red text saying it is over the rated current?
Yeah, i wonder what changes, if any, kopterworx has Tiger do to those to make the specs slightly different.

No worries, that's barely over the limit. I never use maximum throttle. (knock on wood)

Only thing i would change is 5s battery since much better performance. Othervise looks ok. And weight is not ok.
Cinestar alone with bateries is 7kg easy with mount. +4kg red so add 4kg on the top line. And full throtle can be fatal ofc.

Please note that I ran it at 7kg "without drive" and my AUW is over 11kg. So we were using very similar numbers, but in a different way. Should I be concerned about full throttle killing the motors? At the moment, I'm not, because I don't use full throttle.
