AP/AV mount nomenclature proposal

Bartman

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
Talking about camera mounts gets confusing without being able to use words that are universally understood. How about we stick to the following four words to nail down the problems we experience with our mounts so we can better help each other.

Vibration-the high frequency buzzing that can directly affect picture quality by making the actual camera sensor vibrate and causing the picture to go fuzzy or jello

Jitter-also high frequency but not high enough to affect the camera sensor, more continuous than a wobble or swing

Wobble-more of a mounting issue than a mechanical vibration issue from prop and motor vibration that allows the camera to appear unsteady

Swing-motions of the camera mount due to mechanical disconnect between the mount and heli frame. a sudden change in motion of the heli would allow the mount to swing and it shows in video as an abrupt movement of the whole camera to disrupt an otherwise ok shot

Go ahead and make fun of it (I can take it :) ) but it helps to get some words locked down to describe these phenomena.

I had all of the above early on and by eliminating them one at a time the others were easier to understand and address.
