MK Hexa resurrection ....

So we gutted the old MK Hexa to create the Droidworx Y6 .... what to do next ?
Take the frame and motors, add 6 ESCs and a Naza controller. Dig out the old Spektrum DX7 Tx & Rx.
Throw in a few left over MK and Droidworx bits. Construct a power distribution ring out of a small plastic box, glass fibre pcb board and a length or two of copper wire.
Connect it all up and hey presto ..... FrankenKopter. German body, Chinese brain, British architect.

It needs a bit of tidying up for the cables but ... it flies.
Had a few adventures getting my head around setting up the Naza controller but a few searches on our forum cleared those up.
I now have an MR to learn to fly on along side Lec.

PS Thanks Geoff for keeping this to a single build !!!

The build seemed a logical thing to do :) did you set the escs to 16hz and High timing rather than automatic ?? also start up soft as the Maytech seem to be fast on initial spool up .
I am flying most things with Maytechs and loving them .
Have fun learning to fly Andy ,, but with Lec assisting you with the lessons I am sure you will be fine as he is a good pilot :)

Geoff...
Its my first experience of ESCs and what a pain it was compared with the MK BLs. Programming 6 ESCs by listening for the correct beeps takes an age. I left most things at default but changed the timing to high and the switching frequency to 16 kHz. The start up was left set to mid speed but it could have been better perhaps to set to softest.
Cable management is good challenge, a million zip ties should sort that out.
So far its only flown 6 inches off the floor but Lec was impressed by how stable it was in AttiMode. It was there floating 1 inch off the carpet with hands off all Tx controls.
I'll let Lec prove it flies in real conditions and then give it a try myself.
