Specially made acrylic domes...

I have just sent these guys an email enquiring about acrylic domes http://www.ukplasticfabrication.co.uk/

They have a standard range of sizes which cost between £15-£20 + postage, or for an extra £25 tooling charge, they will custom make you any size dome. Flange is also no problem and it's an extra £5 to drill mounting holes. Thickness is 5mm...nice and strong.

I also got an email back today saying that they do smoked acrylic and he's going to post me some samples to choose from...nice!

If anyone wants to share tooling costs for a 185mm dome, drop me a line :)

Gunter.

Gunter,

no, that is not an good idea.
Acrylic is Polymethylmethacrylat or Acrylglas. This is hard and strong, but will break.

Other domes are made of Lexan (Polycarbonate) and this is elastic, strong and will not break.

Make the polycarbonat dome yourself.
