Adding LED strips

I would like to add LED strips to my 450. should I just solder the voltage regulator directly to the power pads and run off of that? is anybody doing it differently?

Added em' tonight. Pretty awesome (and simple) just stuck the voltage regulator under the top plate. Nice and tidy.

I run mine directly from a 4s battery sure they run a bit hotter and a bit brighter but they work fine and have been for a while and if / when they do burn out they are so cheap to replace.

Say I was wondering if you guys could help me...I crashed once and it broke an arm and subsequently tore the led strip in two. I ordered a small roll of led, the end has two wires so that looks easy to solder in but where do I cut the strip so I can do the other side?
