Heli-x connection - How to do it?

I'm finally flying and had 2 nasty crashes! My DJI-550 is fine but stripped some paintwork from the house. :livid: GPS in open space is lovely but clearly I need to learn to fly properly in ATTI etc.

I have a Mac OSX and want to use my Turnigy 9x with HELI-X5. I understand I need a USB connector. Any ideas which one will work with this set up?

Turnigy has a 3.5mm mini jack. It seems there are simple USB to 3.5 jack cables but not sure if they are OS / App / Tx specific.

i'd guess they're not OS specific since USB is universal. no?

Would be good if it were that simple. So I could go and buy this possibly:

A generic USB to 3.5mm.
Yet there are many cables packaged at higher cost to be marketed as RC specific.
I suspect if I go for the generic I may be missing something and it may not work.

does the one from hobbyking have 2 poles? 3? 4? the one in the picture has four (four metal stripes in the plum, each is a separate contact point) and that just enables the USB to connect to three wires + ground at the 3.5mm

if hobbyking is offering a 3 pole 3.5mm then a usb converter with the same should be ok.

but aren't you saying you need a 3.5mm to USB adapter? i don't see that in the HK photos
