New to Multi-rotors - DJI Phantom Help

Not my video, but I'm having the same problem.

Unboxed my Phantom and realized it needed a firmware upgrade. So, per the DJI website, I installed the DJI drivers and the Naza-M Assistant Software (v. 2.12). Following this, I upgraded the Phantom to firmware version 3.12. I then unplugged the Phantom from the PC, detached the battery (the Phantom was beeping after the firmware update, with the Naza-M software said had been successful), re-attached the battery, and then plugged the Phantom back into the computer.

I then calibrated the IMU using the Basic and Advanced calibration, and, after unplugging it, calibrated the compass. Again, I detached and reattached the battery.

However, upon the restart, the Phantom - following it's initialization process - then proceeded to emit a series of red flashes per the video above.

It should not be a battery issue - I've tried three different batteries from three different companies: the default battery, an E-Flite battery, and a Tenergy battery.

Any help would be much appreciated - I've thrown quite a bit of money into this aircraft. Beginning to think I should have bought an F450...

Did you complete the set up?

After upgrading you need to set everything to default and start again including transmitter calibration. Also yes it could be a battery alarm setting that is giving you issues. I would connect to Assistant with the Tx and Phantom powered. Go through each tab and sub-tab and write down all the settings. Then go to Tools and set to Default. Every field that you enter something into should either be a 0 or 100 if it is not and there is a button to hit default click that button. You downloaded the software did you also download the manual? If not do it now and read it several times. The Phantom has a quick start manual as well and there are many set up videos on the DJI website that will take you though the entire set up process from opening the box to your first flight. You have plenty of resources to make sure that you have a successful first flight if you do not get impatient. If you have issues or don't understand something, come back here.

I checked out the manuals posted here, as well as the set-up vids/tutorials by Colin Guinn, with no success.

I'll give the calibrations with the Naza-M assistant another go this afternoon (presently having to use the computers at my workplace - just moved to a new state, and unfortunately only have access to a Mac here at home - ew lol)

EDIT: Honestly, at this point I would be happy to just figure out if this is a fatal error that indicates a defect in the Phantom - like I said, I just purchased it - and therefore whether or not I need to exchange it for another.

The type of flashing in the video definitely seems like a calibration flash and not a battery flash (thought it doesn't hurt to ensure your voltage is above the low level threshold). About a month ago I had a similar issue on my F450 with Naza, and it ended up being a defective GPS even though I had been flying it already for some time. Can you contact your vendor and have them work through it? My vendor setup a video Skype and helped diagnose it. It's nice when a vendor is interested in ensuring the buyer is happy and flying.

Recalibrated the Phantom; apparently the red flashes were resultant from an error with the Tx sticks (which I fixed)


However, now the Phantom flashes a series of 3 green flashes per cycle, with a gap between cycles. again, I do not know what this means.
