As the title suggests - which do you prefer and why...

Old fashioned Rosin based or the new No-clean varieties...

For use with large gauge battery and ESC cables

I use MG Chemicals rosin flux which is a fluid not a paste when I am not convinced that the silver solder rosin core is adequate for cleaning the copper contact surface or copper wires.
For thos who might not be aware of the subtle differences between electronic soldering and plumber's soldering..... The term "Solder Paste" is more commonly used for those who are soldering copper pipe, i.e., plumbers...... plumbers solder and paste will corrode delicate electronic wiring and components resulting eventually is electronic failure.

I use a rosen pen. It works great for me. I have no issues but I don's use non-lead solder.

I use Ruby Fluid. More liquid than paste, it causes the solder to flow thinly and evenly which makes for a better connection and also reduces the amount of solder you need to use.

It cleans up easier and cleaner than a paste. A wipe with a wet paper towel cleans it up without leaving any residue.
