Oregon DOT Allows Sinkhole To Be Filmed By Drone

With so much news surrounding the FAA, regulations, insurance and liabilities of drones, it’s nice to see a story where a drone pilot sought permission and it was granted.  As reported by opb.org:

The gargantuan sinkhole that opened up near the Oregon coast this week is ready for its close-up and YouTuber Kyle Rice — otherwise known as kyle0440 — delivered.

On its Facebook page, the Oregon Department of Transportation shared spectacular drone footage of the sinkhole and slide in Curry County shot by Rice.

The video shows workers and reporters dwarfed by the massive hole, located off Highway 101 in Harbor, Oregon.

On Friday, the Associated Press reported the sinkhole had not claimed any vehicles as victims and no one was injured.

ODOT said in a Facebook comment the sinkhole and slide resulted from heavy rains.
